Take a Breather

Welcome to the art/life trail…

“The psyches and souls of women also have their own cycles and seasons of doing and solitude, running and staying, being involved and being removed, questing and resting, creating and incubating, being of the world and returning to the soul-place.”

 Clarissa Pinkola Estés

In November the energy turns naturally toward introspection. This equates to a ‘season of death’ that will lead to rebirth. This is visually apparent here in the northern hemisphere when we look out the window. We also become aware of the shift when we look at the kitchen calendar….here we find All Hallows Eve and All Soul’s Day each reminding to pause and take stock.

This is a natural time to take account

In that light I thought to share with you some of the insights that came forward last year at this time when I wrote the 2017 Lifecycle Forecast:

The twelve months/thirteen moons before us are for developing courage, confidence, balance and stability.

By September 2017 you will have evidence of what you have mastered. There’s a good deal of ‘walking in the dark’ to be embraced during this walk around the wheel. The energy this year only lets us see the next step not the entire path. There is a natural wobble taking place all year.    It fits to look over the past ten years as you simultaneously visualize where you intend to go in the decade before you.

As we review the year, we of course have 20/20 vision. Notice how you have developed and/or witnessed the development of courage, confidence, stability and balance. Next take note of the breakdown of these qualities as you’ve heard them reported in the world around you.

November is the moon/month of the inward turn. We aren’t very connected to this concept culturally.

Are you willing to be a pioneer?

Are you willing to experience a return to the natural pattern of quieting and calming? Are you open to the idea of regrouping while considering the instinct for hibernating?

Sounds foreign and hard, this idea of death, even the suggestion to be slowing down, doesn’t it? Yet…oh how we all benefit from the modeling of what that looks like feels like and sounds like.

This week I invite you to consider where and how you might press the pause button.

Notice your breathing patterns

See if you can actively remind yourself throughout the day to calm down and simply breathe. This one action will help us all.

Thank you for being creative…

See you next time on the trail.
