Welcome to the art/life trail and the mid point in our current moon/month!
In October something wonderful emerges. There is a shift happening and this unsteady, wobble point gives the gift and the opportunity to consciously reflect on where you have come from in the past 180 days. Look back, in review, to note what you have been up to in the six months since spring equinox.
Take a Pause
Taking a pause creates a context and a container for what will come to meet you in the six fall and winter moon/months up ahead.
Life ‘out there’ is spinning. You might say that at this moment in time there is much uncertainty, volatility and angst. It’s not difficult to imagine being derailed. Taking a pause now provides a respite from the storms.
Out there everything is moving very fast. There is no doubt that as the 17th year of the new millennium closes the pace in every direction is amped-up.
Here on the art/life trail we follow the flow of a slow time…with a focus on being creatively balanced in the way that we allow ourselves to DO and BE.
Take a Deep Breath
Journal page, Drozda, 2010
In October we are half way around the Natural Year. The tendency within nature is to crank up just before calming down. There is a lot of DOing happening right now. This is easily seen here in the northern hemisphere.
As you walk through your neighborhood or better yet visit the park you’ll see a change occurring. The leaves turn brilliant shades of reds and golds, drifting, drifting down and down. Resident birds move to warmer climes (I often imagine the night sky traffic as millions of winged ones travel unimaginably long distances to seek food and rest in their winter homes), the land animals quicken their pace. There is much to be done prior to the drop in temperature. Less daylight changes the circadian rhythm of all…and equates to an urge to get it all done.
Here in my park-like yard the newest batch of baby rabbits are foraging, the squirrels are madly gathering, dozens of them dashing about burying acorns. The fox are roaming at night searching for food and mate. The full moon rises over the lake cove migrant waterfowl float silently in the glow. Walking now has a progressively more distinct crunch as leaves layer underfoot.
What about you. Are you scurrying? Are you rushing about already thinking about how much there will be to DO in the weeks ahead? The momentum is difficult to stop. The first step is to recognize the trajectory toward ‘gotta get there’ mode.
IT’S ABOUT TIME
It’s about time to pause and remember, once again and new each year, how much our bodies align with natural rhythms. Inside each of us is a mounting call to quiet.
This week I invite you to join me in an emergent experience and experiment with natural time. On Monday, October 16 I will begin sharing with you an 8-Day ‘It’s About Time’ Challenge. Each day I’ll post a short video with an creative way to engage with Natural Time. These creative encounters dovetail with one another so that by the close of the 8-Day FREE challenge you’ll have a cool-tool to support your forward movement.
Watch for the next post coming on Monday when registration will open. This gift to you comes at the time of the Natural Year when the tendency within begins to line up with a graced pace. It’s natural to yearn to slow down and to turn more toward BEing than DOing. We’ll explore the balance between the urge to keep up the pace with the wisdom of finding the inner grace.
It will be wonderfully emergent and I look forward to you BEing on this part of the art/life path…the shift from OUT THERE to a conscious balance with IN HERE.
