—On Site ‘Life in Transit’ Residency Description and Goals:


  •  Series of 4 workshops supporting courageous women who have experienced violence/trauma                                                                                 
  • Utilizes poetry and visual art to create a  “Life in Transit” work of art
  • Creates clear process for change, growth, transformation
  • Offers tools for change that include sharing life strengths through, joy, poetry, music, and visual art
  • Provides disenfranchised women a confidential, compassionate, strong and co-creative community
  • Completed art (which may remain respectfully anonymous or attributed to a pen name) will  be displayed at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, Selden Gallery in Norfolk and eventually reproduced on placards for display inside the HRT light rail train and bus system so that the women inspire the greater community

  • Toni Wynn: writer/poet/educator

Workshops  4 consecutive Saturdays …each session 3 hours

Workshop sessions will be held at  Hampton Roads shelter programs throughout 2012…

  • YWCA
  • Samaritan House
  • Transitions



  •  Participants must commit to 3 sessions of 3 hours each
    Commitment to reflect, communicate, create
    meaningful marks…written and visual
  • no prior art involvement is necessary
