Welcome to Following the Moon… This week we begin the ‘Illumination’ Moon which visits us each year during the Moon of June. This New Moon began on Sunday, May 20, in the early evening (EDT). Perhaps you were able to witness the extraordinary ‘ring of fire’ solar eclipse.
This is a great time to set your Art/Life creatively ablaze for the 6 Moon/Months ahead. From the Equinox in March through the Equinox in September the primary creative quality is ‘masculine action’…step up…step out…act…assert…it’s completely natural to get a move on now. What would you like to have sizzle into your creative expression between now and November? Keep a journal…track the steps you need to take.
In June, with the Gemini Moon, you can be natural and seek to expand. Each New Moon provides space for a vision. Start with a vision that can expand your mind. This is a great Moon/Month to continue the active push that is expected at this point of the year. Move yourself forward and notice how qualified you are to create the work of beauty, goodness and care that only you can bring into the world.
The New Moon, and your opportunity to visualize your genius, continues through Thursday, May 24 and then opens to the Crescent Phase in the late evening. At the Crescent Phase (which extends through Monday afternoon, May 28) it’s time to do your research focusing on your ‘Illumination’ vision.
Here’s my response to an invitation to exhibit at Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art as part of ‘Fifteen Square Inches of Fame’ … It’s a portrait of our sweet Jack Russell, Valentine, with my partner BD. Valentine will not be with us much longer so I thought to pay homage to her dear little soul….rescued from deplorable conditions 11 years ago.
What do you treasure? Each day take time for contemplation. Remember that the Natural Wheel of the Year has a Center. The Center is where the Ancestral Energies live… you might think of this as the place where your wise and competent Muse resides. I’ve heard of this part being referred to as the place where “All the Yous that you have ever been throughout times” is anchored. Ask this ancestral Muse for support. Notice the depth of this connection.
During the ‘Illumination’ cycle radiate your brilliance and ’lighten up’.
~May you sing each day~

Beach,
Thank you, Donna. I needed to read this.
I love your “Valentine Girl.”
As is often the case, your post somehow condenses and presents to me the essence of my road ahead–an essence that my own mind has been trying to put together. I like the notion that up to now, it has been visualization and dream time and then tomorrow, I’ll put on my ‘research glasses’. This Rx fits a project I’ve been dreaming up so exactly. Thanks!
Wonderful words of encouragement …. must take some action now. And I loved your sweet picture of your Valentine and BD.
I’ve been there with my cat and it just broke my heart to watch him but I had to keep reminding myself of all the beautiful times he gave us and how lucky I was to have adopted him from one of our local farmers. My two year old son was thrilled and the adventure and love began.
Thanks Hallie…I feel the same when I visit you ‘-)…and thanks for commenting on the painting…first time I’ve attempted a ‘Andy Warholesque’ approach…without needing to copy his style of course.
HELLO HANNAH…I’m so happy to see you here (!) and I’m quite bummed that I can no longer comment on your blog…our two different types of WP will not speak to one another…though fortunately you got through here.
Thanks Meg…these dear four leggeds certainly do fill Wren House with zany joy…we’re lovin’ em to pieces as we prepare to let them go.
What do I treasure? What a wonderful question to consider during the Illumination Moon Cycle. I am continuing to ‘lighten’ the load. I am soon to be on the road again and have an extremely limited amount of space in my car. As I evaluate what is important to have with me, in other words what is functional and what is non-essential, I can now go a little deeper into what it is that I treasure in the realm of the etherial versus material. Thank you for the wisdom you share. And, yes, indeed…the image of BD and Valentine is totally de’light’full and A musing!
