Welcome to Following the Moon and our first moon cycle of the Natural Year. I’m a week behind…but here we go…this whole year is one to practice being at peace with what is…though of course that does not condone being victimized…ya gotta know how to take a stand.
Speaking of taking a stand…this week we move through the First Quarter Moon Phase, Friday, March 30 through early morning Tuesday, April 3. It’s timely to take an action that relates to your Art/Life intention. By all means know what you stand for in your precious Art/Life.
The keyword for this cycle is Clarity…can you see places where you can invite some in?
I began this new Natural Year by having a techno-breakdown…no computer and therefore no postings. When I asked for Clarity I saw that this was actually no problem. So I didn’t turn it into one.
I’m an outdoors gal…so I went outside to play… lovin’ it.
This week I share with you some of my wandering. I recall many years ago a fellow being asked how he enjoyed his summer of travel…he replied that he made it ‘half way round the world’ and never left his back yard…I like that idea right now…though I did venture a bit.
Here’s a bit of the back yard goings on: It was very exciting when first we heard the loud sustained humming coming from high over the tallest trees and then…a large swarm of wild honey bees spiraled down and down and down moving right into an empty hive that we have sitting behind the garden house…after loosing three hives to colony collapse two years ago.
And a little further afield…I made my way to Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and more wandering…
A wonderful afternoon of wandering and watching…
Stopping briefly at Lotus Pond I meet two plein air artists (one willing to be photographed so I could share) visiting from Pennsylvania…members of the French Creek Art Colony… Thanks so much Pat! for stopping your work to chat and for allowing me to share a glimpse of your day in the Art/Life as you visit our beautiful coastal back country.
Don’t you love Pat’s beautifully organized colors:
And there, once again, in the small tree hanging over the pond just a couple of feet from Pat’s easel…yet another stunning, sunning snake…
And beneath it on a lower branch of the same tree yet another:
A day filled with the beauty of Snake Medicine, all observed from a safe distance, requires a bit o’ tribute…if you have a copy of Jamie Sams Medicine Cards check it out on page 61. Snake/Transmutation…it’s powerful. Here’s the poem that opens the entry…I won’t try to get the spacing as the html and I aren’t seeing eye to eye this evening…
Snake…come crawling, There’s fire in your eyes. Bite me, excite me, I’ll learn to realize, The poison transmuted, Brings eternal flame. Open me to heaven, To heal me again.
I hope that you have a lovely week of acting upon the wanderings of your heart and taking the time to relax in the sun…or whatever makes you feel most at home in the world…and in love with your precious Art/Life.
See you next week for the Gibbous Phase of the Clarity Moon Cycle…

Beach,
Thanks for taking us on your adventure! Yes, being at peace with what is. Not giving in *to* “what is”, but *being* with what is, which may at times *require* action. It’s always been a paradox to me. And how interesting that you transmuted your computer problem into an adventure!
Am having a Bee problem and a light went on when I saw your Bee hive box, so will email you later about that…
Hope you enjoy many “expotitions” as Winnie the Pooh called them
What fabulous photos of your “trip” our in the wilds near your home. Spring has really arrived there and the colors are beautiful.
I would, however, have to pass om Mr.Cottonmouth. I know they are God’s creatures but even the photos send chills up my spine. Be careful where you step my friend.
Hi Iona, Thanks for becoming a follower!
Funny that clarity is this cycle’s keyword–I picked it as my word for 2012, but it has finally become more relevant after overcoming some health issues. I’ll take that as a good sign. And I hope not to see as many snakes as you did in one day!
My earlier comment did fly away – maybe its this darn mercury retrograde thing. Coffee spills on my computer resulting on a new, expensive keyboard, and something just fell off my car, sounds like you’ve been in the same boat. But I had a stomach bug at the same time the computer was in for repair, so in a way it was a pleasant break from everything!
Quite a bit of snake medicine there… goodness!! Happy spring. Cold and snow forecast here for tonight.
Hi Christine…I agree … “Yes, being at peace with what is. Not giving in *to* “what is”, but *being* with what is, which may at times *require* action.”
And it is a flumoxing paradoxing kinda conundrum…but we can help one another remember…as you do so beautifully week by week in your meandering.
I send all best for you and the visiting bees…that is a conundrum for really.
Meg…I hear ya! Seeing sooo many of these poison snakey guys in one walk had me looking well before each step…fortunately these were all over the water sunning on perches well away from the path.
Hi Deborah…I’m so happy to have found your work through your win at Robyn’s blog…I look forward to checking back and seeing more. That’s so cool that Clarity is your word for the year. Mine is Whirlwind…it isn’t a word that we find on the Natural Year calendar but it sure is feeling like a fit! ‘-)
Dearest Raven Wood Guardian…you made it through the dreaded spam folder!! which is where you had landed for some unknown…’computer’s are so weird’… reason. Be well!
Beautiful post–snakes and all. I always feel sorry for the snakes–as they simply move through the grass, every bird and animal screams.
